Certifying a gas pipe: why it is a complex process and why not everyone does it

Every gas transport system relies on a balance between pressure, materials and reliability. Certification serves to measure this balance and confirm, through objective testing, that the product can operate safely in a wide range of conditions. Certification is therefore an essential part of the production process, but also one of the most demanding: it requires thorough testing, periodic checks and constant dialogue with supervisory bodies.

ADFlex gas pipes are IMQ (UNI7140:2019 standard) and DVGW (UNI EN 16436-1 standard) certified for the Italian and European markets.

These are two independent bodies that carry out very precise checks on both the product and the production organisation.

Each sample is subjected to tests for tightness, mechanical resistance, durability and compatibility with different types of gas. The tests are repeated periodically, including directly at the company, to ensure that production remains compliant with the required standards.

It must be said that the certification process is long and expensive. Not only in terms of financial investment, but also in terms of the technical and documentary commitment it entails: each test reproduces real conditions of use and serves to demonstrate the stability of the product over time.

For this reason, not all manufacturers choose to take this path.

Obtaining and maintaining IMQ and DVGW certifications is, for ADFlex, a choice of responsibility. It means providing customers with products verified by third parties, with consistent and controllable characteristics.

In applications such as gas transport, where safety is an essential requirement, this type of guarantee becomes an integral part of the product’s value.
